A dramatic escape attempt unfolded Tuesday at an Ilorin Area Court when ex-convict Segun Samuel removed his leg chains using a broomstick, slipped away to the restroom, and scaled the court fence. Samuel, facing four criminal cases, had just been sentenced in two when he tried to flee before his third hearing.

Thanks to quick action by police, prison warders, and local residents, Samuel was caught hiding in a rundown building nearby and returned to custody.
