Abuja Court Remands Man Over N1.8 Million Spiritual Cleansing Fraud
A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse, Abuja, has remanded labourer Muktar Murtala over alleged N1.8 million fraud involving spiritual cleansing promises. Murtala, who pleaded not guilty, is accused of cheating a complainant by taking money meant to guarantee a BET win but allegedly using it for personal gain.
The court adjourned the case to July 21 and ordered the defence to formally apply for bail. Prosecutors opposed bail, citing strong evidence and risk of flight, while defence counsel insisted on the presumption of innocence.
