TRAGIC LOSS IN KANO: TWO FRIENDS DIE RESCUING PHONE FROM PIT LATRINE

What started as a simple attempt to retrieve a dropped phone turned deadly for two friends in Kano’s Bazabe village — a heartbreaking reminder to always call for professional help in emergencies.
In Kano State’s Albasu area, Usman Muhammed and Ibrahim Inuwa, both in their 40s, lost their lives after falling into a pit latrine while trying to recover a mobile phone. Muhammed first went down to get his phone but got trapped. Inuwa bravely tied a rope around himself and followed to rescue his friend, only to become trapped as well.
Firefighters arrived quickly but found both men unconscious. They were rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. Authorities are now investigating the incident.
The Kano Fire Service urges everyone to avoid risky rescue attempts and to always call trained responders in emergencies.
