President Tinubu Welcomes Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno into APC, Promises Strong Support
President Bola Tinubu officially received Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom into the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a grand reception in Uyo. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu assured that APC would back Eno fully to deliver democracy dividends to the people.
Tinubu praised Eno’s move as a bridge-building step, promising unity and support just like with former governor Godswill Akpabio. Senate President Akpabio hailed the defection as political maturity and a boost for South-South collaboration.
Eno said joining APC aligns him with the centre’s economic reforms and will help advance key projects like the Ibom Deep Seaport. He pledged Akwa Ibom’s support for Tinubu’s second term.
APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje called Eno “wise and foresighted,” urging him to focus on people-centered development.
