PRESIDENT TINUBU URGES ECOWAS TO ACTIVATE STANDBY FORCE

President Tinubu Urges ECOWAS to Activate Standby Force Against Terrorism
At the 67th ECOWAS Summit in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu called on West African leaders to urgently operationalize the ECOWAS Standby Force to tackle rising terrorism in the region. He stressed that threats are transnational and no single country can fight them alone.

Tinubu highlighted key achievements under his leadership, including the new ECOWAS Military Logistics Depot in Sierra Leone and Nigeria’s commitment to support troop deployments. He also expressed hope for the return of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to the community.

The president urged deeper economic cooperation, removal of trade barriers, and fast-tracking major regional projects like the West African Gas Pipeline and Abidjan–Lagos Corridor to unlock West Africa’s full potential.
