Malaysia-Nigeria Palm Oil Trade Boosts Bilateral Ties and Investment
Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Aiyub Omar, says the booming palm oil trade is strengthening ties between the two nations. Palm oil makes up about 50% of Malaysia’s $600 million exports to Nigeria in 2024, highlighting deep agricultural collaboration.
Omar noted a growing Malaysian community in Nigeria, especially in Lagos and Calabar, focused on palm oil plantations and business. The High Commission is also pushing for more foreign investment to boost Nigeria’s agricultural productivity.
With global demand rising, both countries see huge opportunities to grow and diversify their palm oil partnership.
