Kano Governor Pledges ₦2 Billion to Rebuild Farm Centre GSM Market After Fire
Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf is stepping up with a ₦2 billion boost to rebuild and upgrade the Farm Centre GSM Market, recently damaged by fire. During a visit to the market, he promised traders and leaders full support to not only restore but expand the market—adding new land, a fire station, solar streetlights, a pedestrian bridge, and better drainage.
The plan aims to turn the market into a regional trading hotspot attracting buyers from neighboring countries. A new management team will ensure smooth, transparent operations.
Governor Yusuf also called on traders to help security forces tackle rising petty crimes and highlighted ongoing youth empowerment through vocational training.
Market Chair Jamilu Gama praised the swift government action, noting the market’s vital role as a tech hub employing over 39,000 youths.
