HEALING HEART FOUNDATION CALLS TO END STIGMA AGAINST WIDOWS

Healing Hearts Foundation Calls to End Stigma Against Widows in Nigeria
At the 2025 International Widows’ Day conference in Enugu, Healing Hearts Widows Support Foundation (HHWSF) founder Gozie Udemezue urged Nigerians to stop the stigma and discrimination widows face. With the theme “Uplifting Widows’ Voices,” the event highlighted stories of eviction, job loss, and harmful labels widows endure.

Udemezue called for compassion and justice, emphasizing the foundation’s work empowering widows through skills training, healthcare, legal aid, and interest-free loans. The conference also featured free medical checkups, health talks, and cultural activities.

Widows’ advocates like Kunie Foundation’s Frank Nweke Jr. stressed the need for policy change to protect vulnerable women. Together, they’re pushing to give widows the dignity and support they deserve.
