FCT Minister Promises Major Upgrade for IBB International Golf & Country Club
Good news for golf lovers in Abuja! FCT Minister Nyesom Wike announced plans to renovate and upgrade the IBB International Golf and Country Club to world-class standards. The facelift kicks off with the Club House—where golfers relax and unwind—under an emergency intervention.
Julius Berger, the original builders from 1991, will handle the renovation in phases. The club will stay closed during the upgrade to prevent further wear and tear.
Wike urged the Board of Trustees to come up with fresh revenue ideas so the club can sustain itself without relying solely on government funds. He also warned against any sabotage, emphasizing teamwork to restore the club’s glory.
Board Chairperson Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem highlighted the club’s growth from 29 to 5,000 members and stressed that an upgrade would turn it into a top tourist spot and boost Nigeria’s economy.
